There is a little change the way RTM do their work. Make the formula 1 live telecast half an hour earlier but end at an hour later. It suppose to end at 10pm but because of the advertisement kept on interrupting, finally it is done at 11pm.

Develops interest in watching Formula 1 within Malaysians by making sure Formula 1 is aired live! Delayed telecast at the late hours will only kill the hobby and interest of many. Secondly, screen more advertisement and announcement on the schedule of Formula 1 shown on television.

Nevertheless, I just hope Formula 1 live telecast tonight on RTM 2 will neither delay nor the first part not being shown.(History repeats: Beijing Olympic 2008)

SLOW ACTIONS ON TAINTED MILK

Yesterday, I came across a little trader selling hampers and food items. An item caught hold of my attention. It is the ‘Silang House of Steamed Potato Cracker’. Here in my hometown still selling this product. I'm not sure if this product is contaminated or not but it looks likely to be containing of milk. In Singapore this product is already banned.

My humble advice to the authorities is to advertise products that are contaminated through media and to pass the flyers around to the little traders. I do not blame it is entirely the fault of the traders to sell this products because they do not have the time to check the products if the salesmen did not confront them. Make a major call back for this product too. Stern penalty must also be taken to the distributors or traders who do not follow the guidelines given. I want eat safe and feel safe as a consumer and living in Malaysia as well.

Baby cereal product and cracker tainted with melamine(09-26 21:16)A baby cereal product and a cracker item were found to contain melamine exceeding the legal limit, according to the Centre for Food Safety which announced the test results of 112 products today. A spokesman for the centre said it had notified the traders to recall Heinz DHA+AA Vegetable Formula Cereal and Silang House of Steamed Potato Wasabi Cracker. Level of melamine detected from Heinz DHA+AA Vegetable Formula Cereal was 1.6 per million parts of water (ppm) whereas the legal limit is 1ppm.The level detected from Silang House of Steamed Potato Wasabi Cracker was 18ppm compared to the legal limit of 2.5ppm.

Singapore detects melamine in five more products

SINGAPORE: Singapores food authorities have detected melamine in five more products imported from China.
Two are flavoured milk and three are confectioneries containing milk powder as an ingredient, according to AgriFood & Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore.
They are Dutch Lady’s Banana Flavoured Milk and Honeydew Flavoured Milk, Silang House of Steamed Potato Potato Cracker, and Puffed Rice Rolls with Butter Corn Flavour and Cheese Flavour.
This brings to eight, the total number of affected products found in Singapore.
The other products which were earlier found to have been contaminated with melamine are Yi Li Choice Dairy Fruit Bar Yogurt Flavoured Ice Confection, Dutch Lady Strawberry Flavoured Milk and White Rabbit Creamy Candy.
In its latest advisory here, AVA said there was no need for the public to be unduly concerned as it had suspended the import and sale of all milk and milk products from China since last Friday.
It also said the levels of melamine detected in the products here were low and hence, unlikely to result in adverse health effects.
The public need to consume large quantities of the contaminated products over a prolonged period of time to have any potential illeffects on health, AVA said. - Bernama

NEW CURRICULUM AGAIN

New Primary School curriculum will start in year 2010. The new curriculum would make learning more holistic and less examination-oriented. Moreover, teachers would have additional responsibilities with school-based assessment in an interviewed with Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
Does it mean by it is 100% no cheating during performing school-based assessment? In the end, a centralised examinations will be given. If the students are not being used to have examinations or test, can the students do well in the centralised examinations later on? Finally, students will perhaps score well in school-based assessment but not in centralised examinations. Therefore, it is better to perform the current curriculum than the new ones. From the current curriculum, it should be improvised year by year.

PUTRAJAYA: Providing an en- joyable and rewarding learning experience for pupils €“ that’s the aim of the new curriculum in primary schools to be introduced in 2010.Curriculum Development Cen- tre (CDC) director Ali Ab Ghani said a review of the existing primary school integrated curriculum (KBSR) was ongoing to ensure that the objective was achieved.“We have organised workshops and seminars to get feedback from stakeholders including parents, students, teachers, lecturers in teacher training institutes and non-governmental organisations on the proposed curriculum,” he said in an interview.Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said on Thursday that a new curriculum would make learning more holistic and less examination-oriented.Malaysian Examinations Syn- dicate (MES) director Dr Salbiah Ismail said the aim of having school-based assessment was to focus on the development of the individual as a whole.“We want to be able to tell parents about their children’s achievements instead of the current emphasis on scoring As in centralised examinations,” she said.She said pupils would be assessed using several approaches, including psychometric tests as well as achievement in extra-curricular activities and sports.“We will provide questions for the tests in various subjects. Once the teachers have marked them, the tests will be sent to us for moderation to ensure there is consistency and no discrepancy of marks,” she said when asked about fears of favouritism.National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) secretary-general Lok Yim Pheng said it was important to focus on pupils’ multiple intelligences rather than just on academic achievement.NUTP president Hashim Adnan expressed concern that teachers would have additional responsibilities with school-based assessment.National Collaborative Parent-Teacher Association of Malaysia president Associate Prof Datuk Mohd Ali Hasan said the introduction of the new curriculum was timely and hoped the ministry would also look into integrating pupils of different races.

I want to know if this product is safe for consumption coz I think is a product of China. I cannot get any information from the sunlac or the government website.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN

Happened at 6.30 a.m.

It did happen again. From my previous blog, it is because of misunderstanding. But this morning while getting ready to go to work, a guy fell down from his bike while riding. The guy got frustrated and made some noise from the exhaust pipe. It was loud and lasted for 15 seconds. I think the disturbance woke many up from their cozy bed. The clock showed 6.30 a.m. Later the guy kicked the booth. I just had a glimpse. The fall is because the man who build the booth also build cement on the tar to cover up the electricity supply from a house nearby.

I appeal somebody who has the authority and power to investigate this matter as I have made a complaint and a follow up but still can not eradicate this illegal booth. The municipal worker play a bit of role and entertained me politely but in the end told me not to call the municipal council as the action cannot be taken although is illegal. It smells corruption to me.

PUNISH THE PARENTS FOR NEGLIGENCE

It is difficult to educate and bring up a child nowadays. Many faults lie on the negligence of the parent. Today’s news is another example. The government should bring the parents to the court. It is illegal to ride on the tractor as the purpose is mainly for plantation and other usage. Further more, the child is just 10 year old. The child still cannot decide anything alone yet and need the guidance of the parent. This is where the parent will play their role. This mishap would not happen if the parents watch over their child. I just do not want to see this situation happen again and again. For the case of missing children being abducted is also parents to be blame. If your child is playing outside the house, look after them. Accidents happened without us realising. Do not let them play out of the house alone or without supervision. It will only make the policemen and the community to search for just one missing child endlessly for the mistakes the parents made. Do not push blame on others as if you are a very caring parent but because of your negligence just once.

Boy killed by tractor blades in freak accident

ALOR STAR: The mutilated body of a 10-year-old boy was found in a padi field in Kampung Pida 11 in Sanglang.Mohd Shafiq Mohd Salleh is believed to have been sucked into the rotating blades of a tractor used to till soil.The body of the SK Kampung Serdang pupil was discovered about 500m from his house at the Kedah-Perlis border at 4.55pm yesterday.Tractor owner Mat Shukri Saidin said the boy had insisted on taking a ride on the tractor.“The driver Razali Mahat told me the boy asked incessantly to hop on the tractor. After much persuasion, the driver gave in to the boy’s request. The boy’s friend hopped onto another tractor.“Apparently they were using the tractor to catch fish. They would jump off the tractor when they see fish,” he said.A police spokesman said the victim is believed to have been trapped between the tyre and the blades.The victim’s mother Salwanah Mahat said her son had never played on tractors before.“He insisted on wearing the new clothes that I bought for him for Hari Raya,” said the mother of three.“It never crossed my mind he would be playing in the padi field wearing new clothes.”The victim’s father, Sallaeh Rahim, was inconsolable.

RECKLESS DOCTORS

While discussing about health issues, a few of my friends talked about regular check-up such as high blood pressure and cholesterol in the government hospital. Certain doctors in selected hospitals had done something terrible. I assumed, not dedicated to their job. How is it? Well, the doctor will check the patient for the blood pressure only once and give a very high dosage of medicine to their patients. From my acknowledgement, doctors should check the blood pressure more than once and give a lower dosage coz the patients blood pressure could a bit higher coz they were rushing to the hospital. One of my friends given an advice to the doctor who treated him to lower the dosage coz he knows his body more than the doctor as he felt the doctor is giving very high dosage. The doctor was stubborn and advice my friend not to take over the doctor’s job. The other friend said that once a doctor given an extremely high dosage which made him a little dizzy for a while after taking the medicine. He quickly stops taking the higher dosage. Indeed, a caring heart is needed to be a doctor. To that extend, my friend would request for a doctor who will treat him better when he go for a check-up.

Back to the statement from the Health Minister yesterday that the government will take a step to prevent imported milk from China and the government is monitoring the situation. What took him so long to come out with the statement as the situation in China happened for days. Well, maybe the principles, "Better late than never" applied for the government in Malaysia. I personally hope no death or long term side effect from consuming the milk in Malaysia.

Permatang Pauh By-election is finally over. Everyone is waiting for September 16. Malaysians does not care about the government decision to review pump rates either every 15 days or every month. Still, I am waiting the lower rates for the benefit of Malaysians. Lower rates means Malaysians will not be living in a tight budget. Hoping lower rates also discourage thefts and robberies where will enhance public safety.
