Petai served best with sambal and anchovies(ikan bilis). You may either like or dislike petai as it resemble durian which carry out a strong smell.
Along the roadside from Cameron to Simpang Pulai, Ipoh, there are people(usually orang asli) selling petai. Petai commonly sold there as petai available in the wild.
I like to eat cooked petai rather than raw.
Because petai plucked in wild, so it is pesticide free. So do not keep petai for a long period as worms would not spare its juicy meal.
